Bridging Passions: Our Method Week “Create” Creations
Here at Funsize, we do things a bit differently. It’s not all about the work for us; it’s also about having fun and nurturing our culture. So, every so often, we hit the pause button on the regular grind and dive deep into what makes us feel like ourselves.
Earlier this month, we embraced the theme of “Create,” and wow, did we turn our studio into a hub of eclectic vibes! Everyone tapped into their own talents, and the air was filled with a blend of passion and creativity.
Dina: Spice and Everything Nice
Dina mixed it up with beads, gardening, and her biggest hit: making and sharing a tasty Kimchi-lada recipe. Her week seemed like a wildly exciting mash-up of all the things she’s passionate about.
Nicole: Prints and Collages
Nicole was all about drawing and printing, prepping for her upcoming art show at EAST. It was like watching a concert of detail and precision in the way she executed her vision across different art mediums. If you’re interested in seeing more and/or purchasing her artwork, come swing by Funsize during Big Medium’s East Austin Studio Tour.
Brooke: Patio Refresh
Brooke transformed her patio space into something out of an outdoor lover’s haven. It’s now a cool, relaxing zone that mirrors her stylish and cozy taste.
Jack: Merv’s Swervy Coffee Shop
Jack let his imagination run wild, branding an imaginary coffee shop that he called “Merv’s”. He took us through his different executions and the thought process behind how he tackled the look and feel for Merv’s, a coffee shop we all wish were real.
Katy: Bouquet Painting
Katy is ramping up Lady Katy Studio and dedicated her days to painting a gift for her sister as a tribute to her sister’s wedding bouquet. Her distinctive style of art will also be on display at the Funsize office during EAST.
Lindsay: Slats and All That
Lindsay brought elegance to her and her fiancé’s office with a wood slat wall that was a labor of love. It’s a functional beauty, adding a touch of organized charm to their multi-use space.
Serena: Poolside Fun
Serena was in her element, revamping her stock tank pool with fun tiling and stone work. It’s now a refreshing little spot that can be used by her family to rest and relax at their home in the Texas Hill Country.
Theresa: Tie-Dye Adventures
Theresa, remote from Mexico City, went wild with bleach tie-dye, creating vibrant pieces that are artistic as they are fashionable. She did tshirts, dresses, and skirts, and they all came out lookin’ killer.
You can view her entire process on her TikTok.
Sarah: Geometrically Abstract Paintings
Sarah got herself into painting, learning and figuring things out as she went along. By the end of the week, she had this cool piece she’s still working on and had picked up a bunch of new tricks and lessons along the way.
Tarica: Stop Animation Wonders
Tarica and her kiddos jumped into the charming world of stop-motion animation with Calico Critters. Together they wrote a story line, “Poppy’s Birthday”, mapped out a storyboard, and executed it beautifully.

Terri: Family Portrait Oil Painting
Terri dove into the epic task of whipping up a family portrait using oil paints as a gift to her dad. She wasn’t able to put the final touches on it by the end of the week, but wow, it’s looking pretty awesome so far.
Marcus: Closet Revamp
Marcus rolled up his sleeves and dove into sprucing up a closet in his new home. He knocked things down, put up some paint, and voilà — a more serene space for storage. And in the process of it all, he killed a whole thing of Oreos. 👏 Pro move.
Hilary: Mom Power
Hilary spent time composing an empowering workshop for moms. It’s a project straight from her nurturing heart, offering support and shared wisdom.
Andre: Backyard Bliss
Andre crafted a backyard oasis and patio, at his home in Bend, Oregon, that’s a tranquil escape built with his love for the outdoors and sleek design in mind.
Darío: Sweet Guatemalan Delights
Darío rocked the kitchen with their yummy churros and canillitas de leche. It was a sweet ride through their love for baking and exploring Guatemalan treats.
Esteban: Cut, Paste, Collage
Esteban kicked off his week by making a tufting frame for future use with the help of his friend. He then transition over to making intricately layered collages. It’s a visual diary of his creative mind.
Nina: Doll-ightful Doll Maker
After watching the movie “Coraline”, Nina was inspired to create her own doll. She molded, formed, baked, and stitched her way through the week. Her doll is a charming reflection of her, similarly filled with creativity and attention to detail.
Lee: Harmonizing Art and Technology
Lee, a visual thinker and skilled tinkerer, used his week to seamlessly blend the realms of art and technology, creating an immersive experience that brings sound to life in a visually captivating way. And the most epic collabs of all collabs, Lee imported Thomas and Alex’s track into his visualizer as a sound sample and the results were wild.
Thomas & Alex: aka ST⭐RHE❤️️RTS
Thomas and Alex hit the music scene as the new duo, ST⭐RHE❤️️RTS. It’s a musical blend of their individual vibes with a sprinkle of Jersey club music, but 100% a creation of a harmony that’s uniquely them.
You can listen to their song on SoundCloud.
Megan: Thread Weaver
Megan spun her love of threads into an amazing modern lamp. It’s a bright idea, reflecting her innovative spirit and love for delicate crafts.
Tony: Model Maestro
Tony got into the zone, building a precise model car that brought him back to the days when life was a little slower. It’s a tiny marvel showcasing his patience, precision, and love for vintage cars.
Edgar: One, Two, Shoot
Edgar captured moments with his iPhone of his friend playing ball, his dog playing in the backyard, and calming scenes of Austin. Using the footage, he stitched snippets to create video vignettes. He wanted to practice his way of telling stories, each frame filled with his cinematic eye and visual style.
Method Week № 20 was a rollercoaster of inspiration and self-expression. We uncovered different facets of our personalities and sprinkled in a bit of newfound creativity.
Our next Method Week is for resting and recharging (the week between Christmas and New Years) but we’ll be back in 2024!
